Logistics Assistant / Driver Manager

About the role

As a Logistics Assistant/Driver Manager at Vickery Bros Pty Ltd, you will play a key role in the effective management and coordination of the company's transportation and logistics operations. This full-time position is based in Coleraine, Victoria 3315 and will involve overseeing a team of drivers to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of fertiliser and associated goods.  To apply for this position you must have a current legal right to work permanently in Australia. 

What you'll be doing

• Coordinating the daily activities and schedules of the driver team to optimise delivery routes and minimise delays
• Monitoring driver performance and providing support and guidance to ensure high levels of customer service
• Communicating with clients to provide updates on deliveries and address any concerns or issues that arise
• Co-ordinating and scheduling routine maintenance for the truck fleet, keeping records and ensuring everyting stays in safe working order
• Assisting with the recruitment, training, and development of new drivers as required
• Collaborating with the wider logistics team to identify and implement process improvements

What we're looking for

Minimum 5+ years of logistics or transport coordination experience required

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team of drivers
• Supervisory experience in team leadership or staff management is essential
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills to handle unexpected situations
• Thorough understanding of transportation regulations, safety protocols, and best practices
• A valid driver's licence and the ability to operate a range of commercial vehicles
• Heavy Combination (HC) truck licence is required
• Agricultural or fertiliser industry experience is preferred but not essential
